TheGolfLeague is Nigeria's first structured inter club golf championship, bringing together ten of the nation's foremost golf clubs from the six geopolitical regions in a thirty six week season of championship golf.

The maiden edition tees off in February 2027, ushering in a new era of organized inter club competition in Nigeria.

Inspired by the timeless traditions of the game and delivered to the standards of a modern sporting league, TheGolfLeague is where clubs compete with pride, every fixture matters, and every season tells a story.

Each participating club registers a squad of thirty players, from which ten are selected to compete in each fixture throughout the season. This unique format fuels the league's defining qualities of Passion, Energy, and Camaraderie, inspiring healthy competition, strengthening club identity, and fostering lasting friendships among players, families, supporters, and the wider golfing community.

The History of Golf in Nigeria

The history of golf in Nigeria dates back to 1897, when the game was first played in Sapele, Delta State, during the colonial era. Over the decades, golf spread steadily across the country, with some of Nigeria's earliest clubs established in cities such as Kano, Jos, Kaduna, Lagos, and Ibadan. What began as a recreational pastime gradually evolved into one of Nigeria's most enduring sporting traditions.

Today, golf is played across approximately 56 clubs spanning the nation's six geopolitical zones. The sport has grown into a vibrant community that brings together players of all generations through tournaments, championships, and club competitions. Beyond competition, golf has become a platform for friendship, business, networking, discipline, and personal development.

An accomplished architect and passionate golfer, Femi Onifade is the visionary behind TheGolfLeague.Former Entertainment Chairman of the Ikoyi Club 1938 and an active member of the club, he brings extensive experience in organizing golf tournaments and inter-club competitions. He leads the league's competition strategy and championship delivery, ensuring every event reflects professionalism, fairness, consistency, and an exceptional playing experience.

An entrepreneur and marketing communications professional with deep expertise in experiential marketing, Kenny Debayo-Sanusi brings extensive experience in brand development, communications, and stakeholder engagement. An active member of Ikeja Golf Club, Ikoyi Club 1938 and Abeokuta Golf Club, he has built strong relationships across Nigeria's golfing community. Olajide Bolaji is a respected golf administrator who currently serves as Secretary of the Professional Golfers' Association of Nigeria (PGAN).
